The Department of Finance and Governance

The Department of Finance and Governance coordinates, ensures the quality of , and follows up on the ministry’s work with the state budget.The department is also responsible for security and emergency preparedness within the ministry, as well as the governance of the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration and the National Insurance Court. Additionally, the department is responsible for coordinating research and development within the ministry, communication with the Office of the Auditor General, cross-cutting tasks in the management of subordinate agencies, consultation cases, financial management within the ministry, and the ministry’s internal planning and management. The department serves as the secretariat for the Calculation Group for the National Insurance Scheme.

The department consists of the following sections:

Section for Budget and Finance  

The Section for Budget and Finance (BØS) is responsible for tasks related to the state budget, financial management within the ministry, and coordination of consultation cases.

Section for Strategy and Governance of the Labour and Welfare Directorate 

The Section for Strategy and governance of the Labour and Welfare Directorate (SSA) is responsible for the governance of the Labour and Welfare Directorate and the National Insurance Court, and oversees the strategic and long-term work towards subordinate agencies.

Section for Governance, Research and Development 

The Section for governance, research and development (SFS) is responsible for coordinating agency governance and audit cases, as well as the ministry’s work with research and development , internal management within the ministry, and societal security in the sector.
