    Department of Correctional and Mediation Services

    The Department of Correctional and Mediation Services is responsible for the execution of sentences, i.e. management of the Norwegian Correctional Service and the National Mediation Service, including budget, regulatory provisions (the Execution of Sentences Act and the National Mediation Service Act) and long-term planning.

    The department is also responsible for ensuring knowledge of which sanctions are effective in preventing crime, and under which conditions they are effective.
