  • Work with the knowledge platform for fresh water.
  • Complying with the EU Water Framework Directive and the Norwegian Regulation on a Framework for Water Management, in freshwater, on the coastline and in ground water.
  • Management of wild salmon, management of freshwater fish, the Norwegian Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act, the Norwegian Tana Act, and of issues concerning the establishment of salmon information centres.
  • Environmental impact of aquaculture activities, with the exception of pollution which is dealt with by the Department for Sea and Pollution Control. 
  • Coordinating work dealing with foreign organisms.
