Section for International Cooperation and Emergency Preparedness

The Section coordinates the Ministry’s tasks relating to international work, emergency preparedness and security in the healthcare sector.

Key emergency preparedness and security tasks include the development of systems, emergency preparedness plans, competence measures, exercises and crisis management, as well as international cooperation for the prevention and handling of cross-border threats to health.

Norway has a broad international commitment to health policy, including via cooperation in the Nordic Council of Ministers, the EU/EEA, World Health Organization (WHO) and in the High North.

Furthermore, the Section is responsible for bilateral agreements, trade policy matters and for the facilitation of the political leadership’s international travel activity.
