Legal Section (JUS)
The Legal Section is responsible for legal matters and regulatory development within the Police Department’s areas of responsibility. Key laws include the Police Act, the Police Databases Act, the Firearms Act, the Passport Act and the Border Act.
Additionally, the section is responsible for safeguarding Norwegian interests within the Schengen cooperation, other police cooperation with the EU, the further development of Nordic police cooperation, and other bilateral police cooperation negotiations.
