Ministry of Industry (of 1955) (1955–1988)

On 1 January 1955, the Ministry of Industry (of 1947) had its full name changed to the Ministry of Industry (Ministry of Industry and Craft), listed here as the Ministry of Industry (of 1955). Shipping affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Trade (of 1947), which now had its name changed to the Ministry of Trade and Shipping.

On 11 January 1978, petroleum and energy affairs were transferred from the Ministry of Industry (of 1955) to the new Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (of 1978) . The full name of the Ministry of Industry (of 1955), the Ministry of Industry and Craft, was now disused.

On 1 January 1988, the Ministry of Industry (of 1955) had its name in Norwegian changed to "Næringsdepartementet", listed here as the Ministry of Industry (of 1988). Affairs were transferred from several ministries: building and construction affairs from the Ministry of Local Government and Labour (of 1948), domestic trade and provisioning affairs from the Ministry of Trade and Shipping, tourism affairs from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, industrial bank affairs from the Ministry of Finance and Customs.
