At the NATO Summit in Ankara this summer eleven European countries and Canada said that they will cooperate more closely on security in the North Atlantic, the Arctic and the Baltic Sea. Now Poland will join the initiative as well.
The Defence Ministers Tore O. Sandvik and Władysław Marcin Kosiniak-Kamysz made that public after a bilateral meeting at the Warsaw Security Forum.
– It is very positive that Poland joins the initiative to enhance maritime security in the North Atlantic and High North. European countries and Canada are stepping up and take greater responsibility for the security of Allied territory, says Sandvik.
The participating countries are Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Efforts under the initiative will be coordinated with the US.
