Dear President

On behalf of the Government of Norway, I would like to congratulate you on your re-election as President of Brazil.

I look forward to deepening our already strong partnership, and to further develop our collaboration to promote peace, democracy, human rights and sustainable development worldwide. In a time of high tensions and war, we need countries like Brazil and Norway to continue to stand up for multilateralism and international law.   

Our joint efforts to combat climate change and to protect biodiversity have been at the heart of our collaboration since your first presidential term, and together we have delivered impressive results. I look forward to continuing this collaboration, including as we take the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) forward, and to further build on the historic reduction in deforestation in the Amazon and other biomes achieved by Brazil under your administration.

 The EFTA-Mercosul Free Trade Agreement enters into force between Norway and Brazil on 1 November. This marks an important milestone in our bilateral relationship, and provides an excellent basis for expanding trade and investment between our two countries.

Dear friend, I look forward to seeing you at the COP31 World Leaders’ Summit in Antalya, and hope that we get the chance to speak.
