2 Agricultural Protocol between the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Tunisia

Sir,
I have the honour to confirm on behalf of the Government of Norway, that as a result of the negotiations which have taken place in the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between the EFTA States and the Republic of Tunisia (hereinafter called Tunisia), signed on 17 December 2004 in Geneva, and in accordance with Article 4 of that Agreement, the following Protocol concerning trade in basic agricultural products is concluded:
Norway shall grant tariff concessions to agricultural products originating in Tunisia as specified in Annex 1 to this Protocol.
The rules of origin for the purpose of implementing this Protocol are set out in Annex 2 to this Protocol.
Annex 1 and 2 shall constitute an integral part of this Protocol.
The Parties to this Protocol declare their readiness to foster, on a reciprocal basis, the harmonious development of trade in agricultural products within the framework of their respective agricultural policies and international obligations. The Parties will periodically review the development of their trade in agricultural products. Furthermore, should any difficulty emerge concerning their trade in agricultural products, the Parties shall hold consultations without delay and endeavour to find an appropriate solution.
If the Government of Tunisia agrees to the above, this Letter and your Letter in reply shall constitute an agreement that this Protocol shall be applied from the date of entry into force of the said Free Trade Agreement, provided that the Parties to this agreement have exchanged their instruments of acceptance or ratification or from the date of agreement on provisional application of the said Free Trade Agreement in relation to Norway and Tunisia.
This Protocol shall remain in force as long as the Parties to it remain parties to the Free Trade Agreement between the EFTA States and Tunisia.

Landbruksprotokoll mellom Kongeriket Norge og Republikken Tunisia

Jeg har den ære å bekrefte på vegne av den norske regjering at, som et resultat av forhandlingene som har funnet sted innenfor rammen av frihandelsavtalen mellom EFTA-statene og Republikken Tunisia (heretter kalt Tunisia), undertegnet den 17. desember 2004 i Genève, og i henhold til avtalens artikkel 4, er følgende protokoll vedrørende handel med basis landbruksvarer inngått:
Norge skal tilstå tollkonsesjoner på landbruksvarer med opprinnelse i Tunisia som spesifisert i vedlegg 1 til denne protokollen.
Opprinnelsesreglene for anvendelse av denne protokollen er gitt i vedlegg 2 til denne protokollen.
Vedlegg 1 og 2 skal utgjøre en integrert del av denne protokollen.
Partene til denne protokollen erklærer at de er rede til, på gjensidig basis, å fremme en harmonisk utvikling i handelen med landbruksvarer innenfor rammen av deres respektive landbrukspolitikk og internasjonale forpliktelser. Partene vil periodisk gjennomgå utviklingen i deres handel med landbruksvarer. Videre, skulle det oppstå problemer i deres handel med landbruksvarer, skal partene uten opphold holde konsultasjoner og tilstrebe å finne en hensiktsmessig løsning.
Hvis den tunisiske regjering sier seg enig i ovennevnte, vil dette brev sammen med Deres svarbrev danne en avtale om at denne protokollen skal anvendes fra samme dato som ovennevnte frihandelsavtale trer i kraft, forutsatt at partene til denne avtalen har utvekslet instrumenter for aksept eller ratifikasjon eller fra den dato midlertidig anvendelse av ovennevnte frihandelsavtale i forhold til Norge og Tunisia avtales.
Denne protokollen skal være gyldig så lenge partene i denne protokollen er parter i frihandelsavtalen mellom EFTA-statene og Tunisia.
