Gratulasjonsbrev til David Cameron

Gratulasjonsbrev fra statsminister Erna Solberg til Storbritannias statsminister David Cameron etter valget 7. mai.

 Oslo, 11 May 2015

I would like to extend my warm congratulations on your election results and your return as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I am confident that the excellent relations between Norway and the United Kingdom will be further strengthened under your continued leadership.

Our bilateral relations are strong and dynamic, and are based on our shared history and our common values and objectives. I highly value our excellent cooperation in the security and defence sector, both bilaterally and as close partners in NATO. The United Kingdom is our most important trading partner, with particular focus on cooperation in the energy sector. I am pleased to note that our already wide-ranging economic, political and cultural ties continue to grow.

I am also looking forward to our continued close cooperation in the field of international development. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you personally to attend the Oslo Summit on Education for Development, which my Government will host on 7 July this year. The summit will focus on education as a driver for development and the importance of renewed political and financial support for education globally.

I look forward to meeting you again in the near future, and to continuing to strengthen our cooperation in areas of common interest. I wish you and your new Government every success.

Yours sincerely

Erna Solberg
